Update: Week-33 Pediatric Cardiology Appointment

Greetings:

God is so good!  We received wonderful news at our pediatric cardiology appointment today.

The VSD (hole in the heart), which was moderate in size six weeks ago, has started to close-up, and the cardiologist said that she would now categorize the hole as “small”.  She said that there is a good chance that the VSD will completely close before our baby is born, and even if it does not close, it will not cause any problems during birth or immediately following. She also said that did not see any other defects in the heart.

We do not need to go back for another fetal echocardiogram; instead they will just send a pediatric cardiologist from their group to do a scan on our sweet baby girl at the hospital when she is born.

Our baby girl just looks so healthy and she just loves to kick and move around.  She especially loves to kick the ultrasound probe.  I think she thinks it is a toy.

However, the doctors cannot rule out the chance of our baby having Trisomy 13 until she is born, when they will do a DNA test.  So, until her birth, I will be seen twice a week – once by the OBGYN and once by the perinatologist.

Our next appointment is on Tuesday, November 25th.  I will see the perinatologist for the 34-week ultrasound and the OBGYN that same day.

Please continue to pray that I will be able to carry our sweet baby girl to full term and that God will completely heal her heart and her little body and she will be born healthy and happy.

Andy and I appreciate all your prayers, comments on Facebook, and on our blog, as well as the text messages and emails of encouragement.  Thank you again for being so faithful to pray for us. It really helps us on those difficult days.

We often find ourselves alternating between fear and faith. Ultimately, we as humans like to be in control, and to know all of the answers. It is a gift of mercy that God doesn’t allow us to see too far into the future, or to have all of the answers. So, though the future may seem unclear to us, we can be confident that God only gives good to His children. God has already written the plan for us, and we can trust His heart, though we can’t clearly see the road ahead.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11.

God has always been faithful to us in the past. I am confident in His faithfulness in the days ahead. No matter what happens, our God will sustain us. He is good – all the time.

Please let us know if we can pray for you.

Fantastic news! Like I said Sullivan’s hole closed by the time she was one and it never caused her problems. Praying for a good news ultrasound. Have a great Thanksgiving, my whole family will be in Hilton Head so we will miss you. Ashley

    Andy and Jennifer,
I feel so blessed to be getting your blog on your darling baby girl. I have been wanting to reply every time I receive another blog and just tonight figured out how to do it. You have been in my prayers since I first read of your concern. I will continue to pray. I have been praying specifically for the hole in her heart to close and of course for her to be born healthy. Your story is beautiful-just read it tonight. It is obvious that your faith has strengthened even more during this time. God is so Good!!!!!
