I am 37 weeks today! We will be meeting our baby girl in 2 weeks, unless, of course, she decides to come sooner.
We are filled with excitement when we think about holding our little girl in our arms, and continue to pray for God’s perfect timing around the day she enters this world.
We also continue to pray – and ask that you join us in praying, for complete healing of our little girl. We had another wonderful scan last week and our baby was weighing-in at 6 pounds 11 ounces as of last Tuesday. The perinatologist says that the ultrasounds are very reassuring, but continues to advise that labor be induced by December 29th – due to the higher risk of stillbirth for babies with a genetic abnormality. So, it is a balancing act between letting her stay in the womb as long as possible, but not too long. In the meantime, I will continue to see the perinatologist every Tuesday for an ultrasound and the OB every Friday for a non-stress test.
However, I know that it is God who is writing our story – not the doctors. We are grateful for the common grace of medicine, and to God, who has gifted men and women to help us during times like these. But, ultimately, our hope is fixed on God. We know that He is for us, and that He is good – all the time, no matter what the outcome. We know that God has a purpose for every life – no matter how long, or how short. Even as we face-in to this trial, our prayer is that God would bring glory to himself.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:34-39
That said… Please continue to pray for us. Our next ultrasound is tomorrow, Tuesday, December 16th at 10:30 AM, and the next OB appointment is on Friday, December 19th at 10:45 AM. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors as well.
Now for a little fun news…The sonographer surprised us with an updated 3D picture of our little girl last week. You can only see half of her face because the umbilical chord is covering the other half, but we think she just looks perfect. However, we might be a little biased!
We have also been playing around with names for our precious baby and any suggestions are welcome!
We’ll send an update at the end of the week, unless there is news before then. Thanks so much for your faithfulness to pray for us. As always, please do let us know how we can pray for you!
