Our Story

Greetings to all who visit here!

We are a family of seven, and this is our blog. For starters, and because I know that some of you visiting here may not be well acquainted with us, I want to provide a little background on our family.

I was married to my late wife, Muggs, for twenty-one years before she died in June 2007 after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. We had five beautiful children together – one son and four daughters. They are the joy of my life, and I am so grateful to God for the gift that they are.

After living life as a single father for a season, I met Jennifer. We fell in love and married in April 2009. The picture above is from our wedding day. Jennifer had never been married, and never had children. Still, Jennifer came alongside me as a wife, and faced into all of the challenges associated with joining a “readymade” family. She couldn’t love the kids – who at the time were ages 6 to 17, any more than she does, and has never wavered from that. In fact, I often tell people that she loves the children as if she’d given birth to them! That takes tremendous courage, and I will be forever grateful to her for the way she loves them.

It has been our desire from the beginning to have children together, and for the past few years, we have been talking and praying in that direction. As a result of various life circumstances, we had all but decided to give-up on the idea, when in April, we learned that Jennifer was expecting! We were shocked, but very excited.

We know that God gives life – only He can. We also know that God is intentional, doing all that He does according to his good pleasure and purpose. Shortly after we received the difficult news about our baby – which you will read about on Jennifer’s first post, we had a strong desire to celebrate this precious life for whatever time God allows to have with this child. This blog provides a platform for us to share that celebration with you, and for you to come alongside us in prayer.

We know that we are on a journey. We don’t know time or distance, but we know that it is a God-ordained journey. This is not the path that we would have chosen for ourselves. But, there’s a greater story – one that is locked-away in the mystery of God’s sovereign plan. So, we will endeavor to trust in the sovereignty of God, and to walk by faith in His good purposes for our lives during this season. We know that God planned this baby long ago. He also planned the length of his or her days – just as He has planned your days, and mine.

So, would you join us on this journey? As you visit here for updates, or as God brings us to your mind, we hope you’ll pray for us, and for the life that God has entrusted to our care. We know that God is active, He is present, and He is good – all the time!
